Line the tin with baking parchment.

Melt the butter and chocolate together in a heavy-based pan over a low heat.

Beat eggs with the sugar and vanilla in a mixing bowl.

Allow the chocolate mixture to cool a little then whisk it into the eggs and sugar.

Sieve the flour into the mixture and add the nuts. Mix well.

Bake for 25 minutes or until it’s set with a slight wobble in the middle. Allow to cool and refrigerate for 20 minutes before cutting.

The children’s school holidays is well upon us. The good news is Jodrell Bank has scooped its first award, being name based cafe in Merseyside and Cheshire by Northern Rail, Hidden Gems.

Unfortunately we were sad to see Gabriel’s kitchen go, but that’s business. On a more positive note, we have now settled into our Gabriel’s grocery store on Wilbraham Road in Chorlton – the tastiest breakfast in Manchester. Also new this year the Lovell telescope pop-up cafe – the finest view in Cheshire, live from April til September!
